His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Chandra-sekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji adorned the throne of transcendental wisdom as the 34th pontiff of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, for 42 years.

He was known for his great spiritual eminence and for his yogic power through tapas. An acclaimed jivanmukta, his language of silence could transmit the message more powerfully than any number of spoken words.

We are in the midst of celebrating the birth centenary year of this most illustrious sage who took birth in 1892 and whose mere remembrance is sufficient to satisfy the needs of his sishyas.

To mark this occasion, Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, on the directions of His Holiness Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, has published this book containing a collection of the selected sayings of the Jagadguru. Effort has been made to collect the quotes from his various teachings and put them under different subject- heads to help the reader.

I acknowledge the efforts of Sri Vijay Venkateshwar and Sri T. R. Ramachandran in bringing out this book and also late Sri R. Krishnaswami Aiyar (Sri Jnanananda Bharati) whose publication "Dialogues with the Guru" has been the main source for this book.

In line with its objective of propagation and sustenance of Sanatana Dharma, Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri, is making available this booklet at a subsidised price. I hope all astikas will find this worth possessing for in it are the golden thoughts of the most celebrated jivanmukta of our time.
