I was voted to power more than a year back. I have accomplished a few important tasks including naming our dear State as "Tamil Nadu'. Some, however, seem to get angry and annoyed by our deeds. They even contemplate dismissing our Government, so that we don't remain in power to serve the people. I won't challenge them on this issue; I'm sure they have the power to dismiss our Government. However, if you succeed in doing so and when another person succeeds me, people won't allow him to change everything that Anna had initiated! Aren't you scared of facing such a scenario? Till the fear stays in your hearts, irrespective of whosoever rules the State, it would only be construed as the rule of Anna!"
"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new" Socrates.
The wise words of Socrates aptly fit the grand leader of modern Tamil Nadu who had a vision that shaped the State into a progressive and prosperous one. History has been witness to many great leaders who were also erudite scholars. But Anna stands out as a towering personality with his remarkable achievements in all the fields that he ventured into. He was an orator par excellence, a playwright, author of many popular books and articles, an indomitable parliamentarian, a gentle administrator and, above all, a beloved leader of not only his followers but also kind human being even to his opponents.
The revolution that he had brought about in the thought process of the society through his incomparable speeches both in Tamil and English, within a couple of decades, was truly unprecedented in India.
The fundamental principles of the Dravidian movement viz., federal rights, linguistic rights, women's empowerment, minority welfare and ethnic canses espoused by Anna are the guiding lights of the State's political philosophy even today.
Tamil Nadu has benefited greatly from Anna's thoughts on politics, the economy, art and other fields. Even while he stood up for the State's rights, he always had a cordial relationship with national leaders and strived to maintain Inter-State harmony and reached out to all sections of people through his speeches and writings.
