The author, a retired senior officer from the government, holds a Ph.D. in Sanskrit and he has been teaching Gita and Upanishads together with the commentaries of Sri Shankaracharya. He has also authored books on Hinduism and Upanishads.
In spite of availability of several commentaries on Bhagavad Gita, this guide finds justification as it adopts a unique approach to explain the philosophical discussion which is central to Gita. Elaborate verbatim translations of the Sanskrit commentaries can be understood only by an experienced reader. On the other hand, introductory books meant for a common reader may skip the philosophical discussions in the text. The present guide makes a balance between the two approaches and aims to give the philosophical concepts in as simple a manner as possible.
