Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru in succession to Nanak, was born a prince, but chose to remain a holy mendicant; a saint, whom circumstances turned into a warrior, but who yet remained ever a saint at heart. He gave a new menaning to life by popularizing death for a cause. He abolished privilege by caste, birth, station, creed, and raised the lowest equal in all ways to the highest. He said: "The temple and the mosque are the same".

About the Author

Dr. Gopal Singh was a well-known writer, poet, philosopher and scholar. His annotated English translation of the Sikh Scripture running into 1600 pages has been hailed as a superb piece of work' by Pearl S. Buck. His other works include The Unstruck Melody and The Man who Never Died-both poetry collections, A History of the Sikh People and The Religion of the Sikhs.
