About the Book The little-known but eminently fascinating Hanuman Drama recounts the story of the god-hero Rama and his victory over Ravana. Legend has it that it was first inscribed on rocks by his devotee Hanuman, but the rocks were thrown into the sea on the advice of the sage Valmiki. The poem was discovered centuries later in King Bhoja's time, and its verses were then carefully transcribed and fashioned into what became Hanumannataka-by Bhoja's court poet Damodara Mishra. This beautiful treasure of Sanskrit literature has now been translated into English and can be enjoyed by English readers interested in poetry and philosophy.

About the Translator Aditya Narayan Dhairyasheel Haksar is a well-known translator of Sanskrit classics. A long-time career diplomat, he served as the Indian high commissioner in Kenya and the Seychelles, as minister in the United States of America, and as ambassador in Portugal and Yugoslavia.
