Author has tried to discuss the practical meaning of peace, harmony and mental happiness The happiness, being a state of mind, has been taken as purely mental phenomenon. One can practice to invoke the sense of happiness even in the dire physical adversity The situations of mental distress and the degree and thrust of mental acumanship required to achieve and sustain the happiness have been discussed.
Effort has been made to explain the working of the psychic processes in terms of the inputs available from the modern science without depending on the scriptural commands. The mental transcendence levels differ from person to person and the situation to situations even for the same person Invoking the sense of happiness under the varied situations and their merits and efficacy have been discussed.
It is hoped that differently conditioned human minds may find some workable tips for invoking the sense of happiness in day to day practical life For the learned and enlightened, the efficacy of the mental state of SAT CHIT ANANDA, SACHCHIDANANDA, the Truth (Reality) Conscious Bliss (Delight) has been discussed and the gradual mental transcendence approach has been suggested
The author, Dr Ram Singh Sachan (b. 1945), after having earned Master's (1966) and Doctorate (1970) Degrees in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, pursued his academic career in different capacities as teacher, researcher and extension specialist at G.B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pant Nagar (Uttarakhand, India), in Technical University, Hannover (Germany, 1975-76) and at A.B.University, Zaria (Nigeria, 1982-85). He co- authored two books and more than 150 research papers and technical articles mainly in the field of soil science, plant nutrition and fertilizer management.
After superannuation in 2005, apart from his professional activities, he is focusing in the field of philosophy, which was very dear to him all through the life, He sports himself as a rationalist and religious atheist Hindu with his own definitions of the words religion as dynamic code of righteous living, atheist because he's stopped believing in the prevalent concepts of God and a Hindu because of his ethnic and geographical identity and descent.
Two of his earlier books on philosophy have been widely appreciated He believes in the deterministic working of the self-regulated Primordial Energy according to the immutable known and yet to be known laws of physics without interference of any second outside agency, even God. He doesn't believe in,,soul" as extra-physical entity and in the absoluteness of the human free will. He advocates the necessity of love, compassion and concern towards others for the onward march of the sociobiological evolution and continuance of human species on earth.
