Foreword
Have you noticed how different dietary systems seem to conflict entirely with each other? Milk is advocated in Ayurveda whereas in macrobiotics, a dietary system invented in Japan, milk and white rice are the worst in food and brown rice is the best. Fresh limejuice helps digestion in some people and causes acidity and arthritic pain in others. We are all facing an ever increasing flood of information about diets and health and food in general. How do we make sense of all this? Anjali has thrown light on many such conflicting issues and helps us understand the whole subject. What I especially like is the simple and clear style of her writing. Her suggestions are simple and effective, the way help should be. I have found this to be an insightful and in-depth presentation of the healing power of food, customized to an individual's need. I feel this book gives great insight into health and many complex diseases in a holistic manner.
Today, more and more people are falling prey to various chronic conditions related to stress and a modern life-style. This is true not only in corporate world, but people everywhere. These life-style issues coupled with unhealthy food and eating play a major role in the nation's most common killers coronary heart disease, Type II diabetes and some cancers. Proper nutrition has always been recognized by health experts as capable of preventing disease. However, Dr. Anjali Mukerjee has taken the subject to the next level. She believes and explains that food can rejuvenate, heal and restore health in a sick person. The purpose of Healing with Food is to tell us how our lives can be influenced, shaped, extended and ultimately controlled without interference from sickness and ill health. Food has finally begun to be recognized as an important healing force. In the very first chapter, Anjali explains that the idea is not to eat less but to eat correctly. She explains that what is needed now is not only higher quality foods, but those that are best for maximizing vitality in each individual. Anjali Mukerjee is in constant touch with real people, and deal with their day-to-day health problems. Her knowledge comes from experience, research daily practice and observations. The contribution that Anjali has made in writing Healing with Food is outstanding. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve his health using natural means.
