This Proceedings volume entitled - "History and Archaeology: Recent Perspectives" was the product of the First annual session of nascent West Odisha History Congress, which was organized by the Department of History of Govt. Women's College, Bhawanipatna. Edited fourteen papers on diverse topics of Odishan History and Archaeology of our time which were presented in various sections of the annual session of West Odisha History Congress and they were well discussed. (From 9th to 12th centuries CE) Sakta Tourism in Odisha: A Study of Socio-Economic Management, A Study on Nationalist Historiography of Odisha, West Odisha: A Study on the Social History of Ancient andMedieval Periods Social Condition of Garjat States of Western Odisha (1803-1947) Study of Music and Musical Instruments as Revealed from the Odishan Inscriptions, Reference of Gold in Indian Epigraphic Records, Kanta Kumari : A Fresh Study. These themes are original and the methodology of history and archaeology of our time has been strictly followed in these research articles. Thus, we hope that the Proceedings Volume would cater to the academic need of researchers in the field of History and Archaeology of our time.
Baba Mishra (b. 1959), he Obtained Ph.D from Sambalpur University in 1990. In professional career, he joined as Assit - Professor in History of the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha. He served as Head of the P.G Dept of History and Co - ordinator of Archaeology Museology, Dept. of History of Govt. College (Autonomous) Bhawanipatna from 2003 and 2010 onwards till his retirement in May 2019. Mishra, has been known as historian and archaeologist. He has more than hundred research papers and seven reference books to his credit. He adopted archaeology in interpreting historical subject that makes his research original, distinctive and thought provoking. He has been Felicitated by Odisha History Congress in its 43rd session along with an appreciation of the Dept. of History, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, on the occasion of National Conference on 'Recent Advancements in Archaeological Research in Orissa' during January 20 - 21, 2024. At present, he serves as President of West Odisha History Congress.
Prassana Ku, Dandasena (b. 1955), he started his professional career as Assit-professor in History in 1981. His topic of research was Judicial administration in south Orissa under the British Raj (1858 - 1936). Having brilliant academic record, he imbibed in his personality administrative skill too. He served well as Autonomous Co- ordinator and Head of History Department of Govt. Colllege Autonomous, Bhawanipatna during 2003 to2010. Dandasena has participated in a good deal of seminars and conferences and annual sessions. His research papers are published in various edited volumes, proceedings and journals.
Trilochan Jena, has completed his Post Graduation from Utkal University in 1997 and joined in OES cadre of the Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha in 1999.He started his teaching career from MPC Morning College, Takhatpur, Baripada, Dist-Mayurbhanj.Dr.Jena completed his M.Phil Degree in 2011 and Ph.D Degree in 2018 from F.M. University, Balasore. He was the Gold Medalist in the M.Phil Career. He is a member of Indian History Congress, Odisha History Congress and at present the General Secretary of West Odisha History Congress that devoted to Historical and Archaeological research. Jena has more than a dozen of research publication in reputed Journals and edited volumes. He presented papers in different state and national seminars, conferences and annual sessions. At present he is serving as the Principal of Government Women's College, Bhawanipatna, District-Kalahandi Odisha since 2019.
