What do men aspire to, acquire or achieve? The answer is mostly-Wealth. By this, we generally mean money, which is instrumental in acquiring many other things in the world. To acquire riches we must have knowledge and wisdom.
But to acquire knowledge and wisdom we have to be healthy, physically and mentally.
I have tried to present to the common men and women, the simple key to all these problems. This book is written for students, service and businessmen, the middleaged and the old, whether men or women.
A line or two on why and how I was inspired to write this book.
In my childhood, I had occasion to attend religious discourses regularly and in that context to read such books that inspired my philosophical mind. By the time I reached the age of 30, I started reading books on psychology, yoga and others relating to human behaviour. Later, when I was about 45, my life took a dramatic turn when a renowned orthopedic surgeon inspired me to indulge in the science of psychotherapy. I took up the hobby seriously, and in course of time, cured as many as six patients (two of them were potential suicides). Later still, I got more and more interested in the subject and continued my pursuits.
In this small book, I have tried to place before you, some simple facts and methods by which you can try to improve your mental and physical condition, so that you achieve peace, pleasure, happiness, as well as riches.
This book provides the common reader in India with a basic and adequate knowledge of physical and mental sickness, its cause, prevention and cure, in simple language.
As a writer, editor and researcher, I have found it a good companion in day-to-day life, practically useful for men and women of any age. It is also an inspiration to those seeking a knowledge of what is for our times good general human behaviour. Its kaleidoscopic treatment has impressed me. The fact, too, that it is derived from its author's own direct experience of living, it reliable and relevant for all of us in India today.
