Number of books are available on the subject of mind. But mind has remained as enigmatic as ever. This is because mind is purely a psychological phenomenon. Hence to demonstrate its physical existence in brain (or elsewhere in body) appears, at least today, to be an impossible task. In this book you will find psychological, philosophical, religious, medical and finally the amateurists view points describing the elements of mind.
The base of the book is the firm concept, that mind exists in the body. With the transfixation of this idea, the reading of various facets of mind will then become interesting and amusing. A deeper pondering and dwelling over your own mind after reading the book will bring self realisation, a contentment and widening of vision. This will in turn, greatly help in solving of the long term complicated problems of your life.
Language of the book is simple and acceptable to the common man. At places where it is absolutely necessary it becomes technical.
Finally it is necessary to emphasise that the outcome of this book, is because of intensive thinking for years. Views and ideas expressed therein are purely from the minds of the authors. As Descartes, (1649) reasoned, "the only thing that he could trust was his own conscious experience".
Each and every manifestation of activity of body (without any exception) is the work of mind. Therefore human body and mind referred to in this book are used as synonymous terms.
Lessons in personality development as a vocational guidance, occupy a common and popular place, in modern society. This is so because personality of an individual plays a vital role in his material success. But what is a personality? It is nothing but the reflection of mind of a human being. Personality, however is one of the properties of mind and not the mind itself. One can plan in details the training programme based on logistics of personality development, but any plan to study the subject of mind meets with a dark abyss. Mind is enigmatic, a puzzle and a wonder. It is as mysterious as the mystery of life, time universe etc.
Because of the complexity of mind, many scientists (especially some psychologists) deny the existence of mind in body. These psychologists deal only with what is visible and physical - the behaviour of a man. In fact this behaviour is the latter part of the process. The first or initial part of the process being the reaction of thinking after the object is perceived and cognited. The second part is the response to the perception called behaviour. Psychologists dwell in details on the behaviour with the exclusion of first part i.e. process of thinking. The reason of omission is the lack of knowledge of a physical part responsible for thinking.
Thinking and behaviour are the constituents of mind. They are the functions of one organ. To exclude first part, could not be apt and logical.
There are many philosophers, scientists, medical specialists and others who firmly believe in the concept of mind.
