Knowledge and ideas exist in world by mankind flow in continuous stream, aspired to come in enrichment of cultural heritage and civilization reflects diverse way to wellbeing. In this edited volume university and college faculties along with their scholars contribute in empirical ways on tribal situations of Jharkhand and West Bengal generally. Fifteen chapters distributed in three part brought focus on the indigenous knowledge about agriculture, sacred groves and natural resources. Second part deals with transformation of traditional life ways; last part of this book covers ideological issues of and related to tribal people of Chotonagpur plateau. Editors on behalf of contributors expect to strengthen the scholars ideas, visions for their research activities. Planners, policy makers and development executives also will found glimpses of reality to serve stakeholders.

We have already spent the two decades of twenty first century with our tribal brethren but still have not necessary knowledge to understand their knowledge and ideas, what are the traditional forms? How are they transforming? How far we integrate them in equality, harmony and rhythm to our National life ways? Here we are trying to make one more endeavor in queue of cascade of research.

Man gradually able to live in a compact world through invented and innovated science and technology Expansion through covering the geographical landscape, communicative media, and global market is continuing at accelerated pace. Our ancestors' contribution in this progress is prime and immense. Indigenous knowledge has been embedded with our socio-cultural life and memorized with everyday life, habits and practices. A large body of traditional, native and folk mode of knowledge and experiences have been decaying continue without any evidence. On the third decades of twentieth first century we have to make enormous task to preserve, up gradation and utilization of these types of treasure troves. A prosperous research, preservation and validation of indigenous knowledge are khazana of our future generation. Still synthesis of folk knowledge to codified and established are regular endeavor.

Late second half of twentieth century has a limelight for research in indigenous people and their knowledge through all the core area of disciplines. Conceptualization, documentations and validation come step by step in course of progress. Searching. restoration and application of indigenous knowledge were regular activities of common mass on way to survival, development and planning from immemorial time Efforts with these approaches come among the administrators, planners and executives demand strong credit recently Grass root level decision makers to UNO officials have intensive involvement to develop people through their own genius. Agriculture and health care sectors are leading area in continuation of applied dimension of indigenous knowledge Progress of agriculture comes from integrated support of indigenous knowledge by selection of field preferences of seed against varied climate and weather, types of weeding sources of water along with mode of imigation, time and mode of harvesting and overall storage of produces. In our health seeking behavior we realize a health problems think about etymology, take medicine and psychological support and return to good health through life as a patients with entire thought and activities by domain of indigenous knowledge. Beside of these two major thrust areas of human life, material cultures, ideology and life world, phenomena of world view and experiences of everyday life not escape from orientation of indigenous knowledge.

Tribal religion is not comparable to other codified form of religion but in this volume we have considered three papers on religion like Vaishnavism, Sufism but transformation of the tribal religion especially in their componential analysis.

We hope the entire volume ushers the researchers ideas thought and explanations on the way to knowledge and ideas of tribal society.
