There are some people in the world who try to achieve greatness some achieve greatness and greatness is thrust on some. Indira Priyadarshini belongs to the third category. Whatever she had taken up Indira was a success. We may be insignificant when compared with the vast universe, yet we have an invincible and unflinching spirit within us. There were many special qualities in Indira which are worth remembering. She had an untiring effort, strong determination and dedication to work. She had the rare ability to distinguish the reality from falsehood and to take infallible decisions.

Indira's uniqueness lay in the nationalisation of banks, the improvement of science and technology, 20-point programme. Pokhran tests, land reforms etc., She used to say that she would follow the principles of foreign policy, as they were framed according to the traditions of our country which protect the interests of our country. She said that inequalities in any form deterred world peace. So she turned her thoughts towards socialism. According to her, world peace could only be attained through international cooperation.

She thought there should be no reservation for women particularly but they should participate in the affairs of the country in a democratic way. She had a great sympathy for the poor. So she started the slogan, "Garibi Hatao". She used to say, "Our greatest enemies are poverty and back wardness.

Indira had done a great duty. She tried to solve the political and social problems of the country as well as lead the country forward in the field of science and technology. She had gathered her political strength through her family which played a pivotal role in the struggle for freedom.
