Sai Baba advised regular recitation of the Vishnu Sahasranama. He said that when He had pain in the chest, just keeping the Vishnu Sahasranama book gave Him relief.

Baba gave the Vishnu Sahasranama book to Madhava Rao (Shama) and asked him to read it. When Baba Himself asks someone to read a scripture or a book, it is as good as His blessing.

An Insight into Vishnu Sahasranama through Sai Baba is an innovative book which interconnects Sai Baba with one thousand names of Lord Vishnu. Sai Baba's life is a journey of the atma, to transcend body consciousness - not for piecemeal happiness, but to attain infinite bliss, ananda; a journey to dismantle our worldly bonds and become free; a freedom that can be attained much prior to death. The journey of life may continue for one or more lifetimes until the Infinite is attained. This book will give the reader a deeper insight into Lord Vishnu and Sai Baba's life, His code of conduct, words of wisdom and also the innumerable miracles He performed.

Dr G.R. Vijayakumar (b. 1949) is a widely-known and distinguished name among Sai devotees across the country as more than 3,000 of his articles and poems on Sai Baba have been published in different magazines since 1977.

He holds an MBBS and MD from Bangalore University and a Doctoral degree from Sri Lanka, apart from PG Diplomas in Nutrition and Industrial Health. He obtained a PhD in 2018 from Madurai Kamaraj University for his dissertation on Vishnu Sahasranama.

He was the Principal and Professor in Community Medicine at the All India Institute of Local Self Government Bangalore, connected to the Rajiv Gandhi Health University in Karnataka.

He was awarded the Governor's Gold Medal (2002) for 107 blood donations, a national award from USAID (2004) for his work on AIDS, the Henry Dunant award from Red Cross (2010) and a National award for Medical Teachers in 2016. He has travelled all over the world.

I consider it a great privilege to have the opportunity of writing a few lines foren and book how have enjoyed the divine fragraning a few lines pages of the book. In Mahabharata, Bhishma Pitamah was given the role of instructing Vishnu Sahasranama to Yudhishtira. Vishnu Sahasranama is a devotional song to Lord Vishnu. The 108 stanzas comprising the Sahasranama are well-explained by Dr G.R. Vijayakumar, with particular reference to Sai Baba's life. It is like sandhya in spiritual sadhana. In Bengaluru, particularly in Basavanagudi, Malleshwaram and Jayanagar areas, there is hardly any devotee who does not recite the Vishnu Sahasranama daily.

This book highlights that our Baba's nature is divine, pure, peerless and full of all blessed qualities. Baba took pains to pass Himself as an ordinary person though He was divinity in human form. Dr Vijayakumar is well aware that the senses, mind and intellect cannot comprehend the subtlety and magnitude of Brahman and the same applies to Baba's divine dimension. Therefore, to appreciate and receive Baba's blessings, it is necessary to read this book and imbibe the messages culled from Baba's physical presence on this planet.

While going through this book, I had a strange and interesting feeling that my entire system was aligned and restructured into an orderly configuration so that my mind always thought of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba and was always in a state of bliss.

This book is really a gift from a blessed personality. We should all take lessons from the life of Dr G.R. Vijayakumar, who has been a Sai devotee for the last five decades. He has authored several books and articles on Shri Sai Baba and receives His blessings continuously.
