The true taste of integral mission is to discover a holistic approach and integrate the need of all creations. It seeks to transform all contextual issues into meaningful content. The greatest mission of Christianity lies in practical implications and not in intellectual arguments. It is based on the experience of faith derived from situational commitment. Thus, the profound human longing for integral mission in the Christian mission is not an anomaly. The mimicry of foreign knowledge in the society and the obsession of religiosities in religion (read church) serve as a bad omen for the future of the society. Integral mission, therefore, is super-organic and engages faith beyond belief.
The initiative taken by the Poumai Theological Association, a theological wing of Poumai Naga Baptist Association (PNBA) in bringing out a book entitled "Integral Mission: Exploring Holistic Approach of the Christian Faith" is to be highly appreciated. Creating a platform, where thinkers freely unearth their thoughts will be of great treasure at this point in time. It is very encouraging to see many theological graduates coming up with credible knowledge that can be of optimum benefit for our people. For many years, we have been only reading the thoughts of other people, which sometimes are foreign to us and not applicable to our context. Yes, we ought to be grateful to them all. But now, the time has come for us to express our thoughts and concerns which will fit better into our context, and those beautiful thoughts and concerns can be a blessing only when they are put into writing. I know, for sure, that PTA has a vision that transcends beyond the horizon for paving the way to make this happen.
Precious stones such as gold, jewel, diamond, etc., are not found from the surface level. They are hidden deep under the earth's surface. Likewise, the ideas and thoughts that changed the world are not commonly found from the lips but are hidden deep in the mind of thinkers. Many challenging thoughts and issues, tempered with theological and Biblical truths, are beautifully reflected in this book. We need to treasure them.
It is generally said, "The easiest thing to sell to the Nagas is meat, and the most difficult thing to sell to the Nagas is book." One can generally foresee that any book written will not make a good deal. Forgive me if I am too skeptical. We need to change the direction. We need to break the hard shell to see that the nut inside is delicious and nutritious. This will happen only when people capable of writing write every now and then, despite the hurdles they face. I am so encouraged that PTA is taking up the challenge to publish a book covering a wide range of issues and topics. This will help the readers connect with the world, the world which is beautifully and wonderfully created by God; the kingdom which God intends for human beings to experience life in fullness.
