And flows to the Arabian Ocean through many famous cities of Madhya Pradesh like Jabalpur, Hosangabad, Omkareshwar and finally reaches Gulf of Khambhat in Gujarat. It irrigates a vast area in these cities and is therefore a very important natural resource. Narmada is also called the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh. Narmada and Tapti are the only peninsular rivers that flow from east to west, into the Arabian Sea. The others flow into the Bay of Bengal.
