This book is an account of my journey in search of the ultimate truth and a sincere desire to share some of the spiritual experiences I have had in my life. There will be many readers who might scoff at these experiences as figments of my imagination, and there will be yet others who might look at me suspiciously. But more importantly, there will also be a few who may share this most sacred passion for the absolute truth and recognize the reality in these experiences. This book is dedicated to those few, but above all it is a tribute to my Gurudev, Swami Rama, and the unsurpassed love I have received and am still receiving from him.
It is a journey that must have started several lifetimes ago. I wish I could recall those lifetimes in all their totality but being a mere mortal such powers are beyond me. And the Gods will not reveal that which we do not need to know. I wonder if I will be able to reach the end of my journey in this lifetime or if I will need to take more births. I can only hope that my Gurudev will give me the grace to reach the end of the journey in this life.
There are a number of reasons for this need to tell the story of my spiritual life. I'm just an ordinary person, from a very ordinary family with an uneventful childhood and young adult life, yet I've done and experienced things the average person probably only dreams about. As such I would like the people, especially the young people, who read this book to realise that nothing is impossible. And finally, I would like to assure those readers who are seeking enlightenment that the Gods and higher forces will grant you their grace if you are a genuine seeker.
I was at a point in my life in year 2000 where I needed to rethink my goals and aims for the future. I had become increasingly torn by feelings that I had not been doing what I was meant to do with my life, and that this is not the path that my spiritual guru had meant for me, although he had put me on it for certain reasons. As a result, there was a feeling of dissatisfaction, not only with myself, but also with the environment I was in at that moment. The wish to spend more of my time and energies doing something for Malaysia and its people, to give some of what I've been blessed with to those less fortunate, had become a driving need. Yet I felt there was still more I could achieve in the business world and was reluctant to give up everything I had worked hard to build thus far. I had achieved what I set out to do, but the question now was whether I was ready to give it all up and focus on an entirely new area.

What makes a man remain in the world, and yet be above it? What makes a seeker so blessed, that all he longs for is to dissolve into his Master's universal soul, and merge into the Absolute? What would make a successful businessman give up the empire he has built, and then desire to walk away from it into the forest, dropping his fortunes and titles and trappings along the way?
The answers to these questions are available in this beautiful book that promises to charge you up spiritually and seek answers during your own life journey. It is evident that the author, Dr Mohan Swami, has taken the road less travelled. He has been able to present a most compelling account about how his life transformed after he met his Gurudev, Swami Rama of the Himalayas, in 1990, at an ashram in Rishikesh in the Himalayan foothills. This was soon after he had read and reread the book Living with the Himalayan Masters written by Swami Rama.
Once he managed to meet Swami Rama in person, it took him no time to decide that he would dedicate the rest of his life's journey in living the dream of his Himalayan Master. Initiated into the Tradition by Swami Rama, Dr Mohan Swami, a medical doctor- turned-businessman from Malaysia, began to work towards giving shape to his Gurudev's dream project-the setting up of a medical city in Dehradun. Through such a project Swami Rama wanted to help the wandering monks and sages and the people of the Himalayas who had nowhere to go for affordable and quality treatment in the entire hilly region of Garhwal and Kumaon when they fell ill. For centuries these holy men and people have had to suffer the travails of having to find their way to faraway Delhi or Chandigarh or Mumbai for specialised treatment, without any money, and absolutely no resources at their disposal.
