‘Kantimati Parinayam’ is a rare dramatic work available in this Library. The author Cokkanatha Makhi is one among the poets lived during the reign of King Shaji, the Maratha King (A. D. 1684 - 1711) of Thanjavur. The Poets Ramabadra Dikshit, Ramanatha Makhi, Narahari Dikshit, Sridhara Venkatesa Dikshit, Periyappa Dikshit were the contemporary poets. This diction of the Drama is dignified and contains a good description of the various activities of the King Shaji. It is a worthy addition to Sanskrit literature.
The learned editor and former Sanskrit Pandit Thiru P.M. Padmanabha Sarma has taken keen efforts to bring this work in a laudable manner. Our thanks are due to him. We have to thank Thiru A. Panchanathan, M.A., B, Lib, Sc., Administrative Officer i/c and the Library Staff for their co-operation and also to the library Press for their neat execution of printing.
We wish to place on record here our gratitude to the Government of India for their munificent publication grant.
