The Legend of Planet Surprise Profound sensitivity, depth of compassion and the awareness of the follies of some of our endeavours such qualities are displayed by the author in these short stories full of wisdom and foresight. In our era of mindless growth, much of it marked by selfish greed and lack of fellow feeling, this book of short stories by Tajima Shinji has something for all of us. A message that in a human life, encompassing much more than material success, ambition untempered by love can destroy the soul a warning that efforts to reach the pinnacle of our dreams without concern for the totality of things that make human existence beautiful can destroy us all.
The five short stories in this book depict different aspects of human existence. Not only does the author point out pitfalls of many of our actions, but he also illustrates the need for struggle and commitment if we hope to overcome the obstacles that prevent us from making our lives beautiful.
