K. Bhattacharya. Dr. Laskar is the co-editor of the Centenary volume VINAYATOSHINI. He also edited the collected works of Dr. A. K. Bhattacharya, Binoytosh Centenary Souvenir and Amiya Saptati (in Bengali). Editor of the journal of WTA, Dr. Satyananda Laskar lives in Kolkata.

I am glad that in the book "MAGNET AND HEALTH" Dr. S. Laskar, IPS (Retd.) and Dr. (Mrs.) Swati Mukherjee examined various aspects of magnetic therapy prevalent in India and drew attention to the confusion created by the difference in the identification of the poles of a magnet. Some think that north pole of a magnet must point towards the geographic north while the other view holds that the north pole of a magnet should point towards the geographic south pole of the earth. The difference is vital and needs immediate settlement in consonance with the opinion of experts. I fully agree that correct identification, marking and colouring of static magnets should be done so that laymen are not misguided by the opposite colour of the same pole of a magnet existing in India, as wrong use will be disastrous.

The authors took holistic views and focussed on the inter related-ness of each and everything-of one organ to the other organs-of matter, mind and spirit in a very wider scale.

This book deals with magnetic healing mainly. The chapter on pulsating Electro-magnets has focussed attention to various researches done by scientists and physicians. Researchers may combine energies of magnets and pyramids, as suggested by the authors for effective healing. The authors lay stress again and again for self-less service.

This book is rich with case histories as well as indicates many specific treatments for various ailments which will, no doubt, help students and common men to use magnets in daily lives. Those who practise homoeopathy may also apply magnets as hinted by the authors.

Any new material that can contribute to the health of man often causes complex and controversial reactions. Experts take their stand; some supporting the new thoughts and some supporting the old orthodoxy. Invariably any material that deals with the mysteries of life is very complex and controversial and it is quite impossible to call spade a spade.

Long back on the basis of researches I published two books on Magnet Therapy in collaboration with Dr. Albert Roy Davis and Dr. Ralph U. Sierra of USA. The mysterious power of Magnets had also induced my father Dr. Benoytosh Bhattacharyya to write the book MAGNET DOWSING.

I am glad that Dr. S. Laskar and Dr. (Mrs.) S. Mukherjee have written "Magnet and Health"-a manual of advanced Magneto Therapy" etc. where they focussed attention on the importance and utility of magnets, on inter-relatedness of the organs of the body, mind and the environment, and the unique role of magent to influence the mind and psyche.

The authors had sought my guidance at all stages. This book has brought into focus the old and the new techniques of Magnet Therapy including pulsating Electro-Magnets and many new information for which they deserve encouragement.

I wish that the authors would pursue their research on Pyramids which may open up new vistas on the Art of Healing in combination with Magnetic Energies. As a Pyramid has come up on the terrace of NEW LIFE CLINIC, at Calcutta.I hope the research would produce results soon.

Magneto Therapy is a natural process which stimulates the body to heal itself. The use of magnet is simple, less expensive, pleasant and safe as treatment. The magnet has two poles, North (negative) and South (positive). The north pole of a magnet attracts the south pole of another magnet while it repels the north pole of another magnet. This attraction is equivalent to compassion and love while repulsion is the opposite. Each pole of a magnet can recognise the different poles of other magnets. This suggests a superior intelligence acting in consistency on animate and inanimate objects. The positive; negative and neutral energies of a magnet are like the energies operating in this earth and these same energies are operating in the cosmos and beyond.

The five great elements of our planet earth do exist in a magnet; the primordial elements-according to Ayurveda, are earth, water, fire, air and ether.

The north pole of a magnet is negative while the south pole is positive. The poles are identified according to the direction of the spin of electrons in an electric current. Sun and Mars, having their respective colours red and yellow are hot and hence positive in character. Venus, Mercury and Moon having the colours of indigo, green, and orange respectively are cold forces and are therefore negative. Saturn and Jupiter having the colours violet and blue respectively are neutral.
