KU.PA. RAJAGOPALAN (1902-1944) known as KU.PA. RA was a versatile writer in the domain of Tamil Literature. Though his specialization was in short-story, he was a journalist, novelist, poet, dramatist, translator and essayist. He was linked with Manikkodi Tradition of Tamil Writers. His portrayal of men and women in his short-stories are outstanding. He used dialogue in a unique way. He penned the inner minds, mood and motives of characters making them alive. His poetic style is fine and lucid. Chitty, one of the Tamil writers, has given encomium that KU.PA. RA had succeeded in elliptical style of writing. He had lived just for forty two years of which he had been writing for eleven years. His contribution to modern Tamil Literature is unparalleled. Though his life was extremely unpleasant, he had been writing till his last breath. He was acclaimed for his achievement and he was called 'a fragrant flower in the realm of modern Tamil Literature'.
ERA. MOHAN, formerly professor of Tamil in Madurai Kamarajar University, is now working as an emeritus fellow in the same University. He can be called as Boswell to MU.VA. He authoured more than seventy books and edited more than twenty five books to his credit. He is interested in comparitive literature and modern literature. He is a receipient of K.A.P Viswanatham award from the Government of Tamilnadu. He is an eloquent and eminent essayist. He is now a General Council Member of Sahitya Akademi.
