Marriage is one of the most sacred and pious social events of life in the context of Indian culture. It is solemnized to become a vital bond between the two marrying partners who are mostly two different human souls of opposite sex. It can thus fill one's life with immense and perpetual joy or it can mean otherwise as well. It has in fact a cosmic relevance for the continuance of the mankind and humanity in the universe. The union of the two persons of opposite sexes makes the beginning or the commissioning of a new family. Marriage is a part of our culture almost since the creation of humanity. It is a socially approved union ship or relationship between two individuals of opposite sex, to call themselves as life partners after marriage. The family grows by the birth of the children, which is a direct manifestation of destiny. So marriage and matters related to it are destined or destiny related as per "Shastra's" and Vedic philosophy, which is the crux of the human existence. There is a well-known saying which says that the "Marriages are settled in heaven and celebrated on Earth". So the importance of the faculty of marriage and its longevity, can well be understood as a subject of one's destiny. How to synthesize it astrologically for having a prosperous marriage with its marital bliss throughout one's life time? Vedic astrology has the answer. An attempt has been made in this book to explain various astrological parameters relevant to marriage and its longevity. In this book scores of birth charts along with the relevant divisional charts, have been made use of in various chapters of this book, to justify various events of life linked to the issues of marriage, like timing of marriage, normal marriage, delayed marriage, disturbed marriage, love marriage, out of cast marriage, denial of marriage, widowhood and widower hood in marriage, match making in marriage and the like in detail, with exemplary astrologically explanations pertaining to the actual relevance's of such cases and events.

Hope this book will serve as a probable guide for the astrologers and the students of astrology in particular in identifying the various parameters of marriage and its longevity both for predictions and learning.

Er. P.L. Khushu did his graduation in Civil Engineering with distinction from Jiwaji University Gwalior, Gwalior, M.P. He retired as a high profile Civil Engineer from the State of Jammu & Kashmir, as a senior level Civil Engineer. He is a consultant Chartered Civil Engineer, of Institution of Engineers (India) and a fellow member of the Indian Council of Arbitration, being on the panel of the Indian Council of Arbitration as an empanelled Arbitrator. He qualified Jyotish Acharya from the Institute of Astrology, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi, with distinction about 20 years back. He pursued advanced research work in astrology in the Institute of Astrology, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi, under the guidance of respected Sh. K.N Rao, who is a world famous legend of astrological studies. He has attended several seminars of astrology and has written voluminous articles on astrology and its various astrological facets. He is a practicing astrologer very much in demand due to his high acumen predictive techniques of astrology.

Before I proceed to express my views in the Preface of this book, I need to mention here that my prolonged association of many years with the senior most astrological research class of 'Bhartiya-Vidya-Bhavan, New Delhi, under the blessed and cherished guidance of respected Sh. K.N.Rao, a great astrologer of the present times, gave me a privileged chance of learning astrology and its various parameters applicable to different facets of one's life, to a greater extent. While having taught his students, which includes me too, the advanced predictive methods of astrology and its applications in relation to the various walks of life, by our Jyotish Guru Sh. K.N.Rao, the subject of marriage and its others parameters, was one of such topics, which was elaborately explained and deliberated upon by him to his research students in such research classes.

As a research student I got ample opportunity to amplify and decode the defined parameters of marriage and its other parameters as mentioned in the 'Classic-Books' of astrology, through a well disciplined research work on the topic of marriage and its longevity, by applying these astrological norms to hundreds of horoscopes, covering the various parameters of marriages, like the timing of marriage, a successful and a prosperous marriage, early marriage, late marriage, longevity of marriage, distress in marriage, distrust in marriage, no marriage, separation in marriage, loss of marriage and above all widow hood and widower hood in marriage. I am a privileged research student amongst those research students, who have equally worked on scores of such horoscopes pertaining to marriages and its longevity. It is this an ordained fortunate 'Karma' of mine, when the destiny afforded me a chance to be a research student of advanced astrology, when I am now in a position to author this book on marriages captioned as "Marriage and its Variants", It is all due to my Jyotish Guru Sh. K.N.Rao's blessings and teachings, that I have been able to write this book on the subject of marriage.

I am equally highly indebted to respected Sh. K.K. Joshi a veteran teacher of astrology at Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi, from whom I learnt fundamentals of marriage and it's 'Milan', in my initial class of astrology called as 'Alankar' class, in the year 2002.

Coming back to this book, it is essential to mention here that the institution of marriage and its longevity in its different facets, is directly linked to one's destiny, which in turn is linked to one's 'Karmas'. The Law of Karma is infallible and everyone invariably is subjected to it. Unfortunately due to ignorance we forget the universal fact that our destiny is created by our own karmas or deeds of our past births. As per the law of karma, every positive deed which we perform does create a positive favor for us for our future births, while as any negative deed of ours results in a an imperfect deed known as a 'Sin', for which we have to repay through unhappiness and pain. Our whole life is predestined, along with the major related factors linked to it like our family structure, our social system we alive in, our marriage, status of marriage, its bliss or gloom, children and the like. Thus, this loop of karma and destiny binds us and we remain entangled in it. Marriage is one of its off shoots.
