This present text of "ADITYA HRIDAYAM" is an extract from Ramayana, written by a great sage, Valmiki, an historian around 20,000 years ago. The sage wrote in his book that he has seen Sri Rama, the hero of the book "Ramayana, with his own eyes. He clearly certified that while he was writing the book, Sri Rama was still ruling his Kingdom, Ayodhya. The present text of "Aditya Hridayam" contains the invocative mantrams of Sun Deity. This invocation contains many secrets which are explained in the present treatise of "Meditation of Sun in Heart". Strictly speaking Aditya Hridayam means the heart of Sun which directly means the center of Sun but indirectly it refers to the heart of human body also. Here heart means not the physical heart but Anahata Chakra or the Heart Centre of the body. The Heart Centre is located at a point in the Spinal Cord parallel to the central point of the physical heart. Astrologically and spiritually Heart center is the representation of the Sun and that is why whenever the Sun is afflicted in the Natal Chart, the native suffers from heart disease.
The extract was dictated by a great cosmic sage, called "AGASTYA, whose cosmic abode is the star Canopus. He came down to earth physically in a human form several times, periodically and returned. Agastya gave the secret of the Sun Meditation in the heart of Sri Rama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu i.e., these keys are given to the mankind through the consent of Sri Rama, the almighty in physical form. It is a tradition in spiritual path that the triangle is to be completed while initiating. The three (points of triangle) are, (1) The Initiator or Guru. (2) The initiated or the disciple (3) the presiding deity is the Sun represented by Sri Rama. Thus, the triangle is completed.
Agastya after initiating Sri Rama says that the success is assured for all those who meditate this initiation thrice a day. Here again the triangle of the day is involved.
