The Volume is a collection of essays presented in honour of Padmabhushan Shri R. K. Trivedi, Governor of Gujarat State. Shri Trivedi is an able Administrator, Economist, Educationist and also a great patron of Indian Cultural Heritage. His contributions to these fields are well-known. He served the prestigious offices of Secretary Personnel, Govt. of India, Central Vigilance Commissioner and Chief Election Commissioner of India. To honour his creditable works and dis tinguished services, his admirers and well-wishers are presenting the garland interwoven with pearls of research papers. The Volume contains 60 papers on varied aspects relating to Indo logy, Polity and Administration. The contributors include the great Indo logists like Dr. Gritli v. Mitterwallner, Prof. K. D. Bajpai, Prof. R. N. Mehta, Dr. S. R. Rao, Prof. B. N. Puri, Prof. B.N. Mukherjee, Prof. B.N. Goswami, Prof. Lallanji Gopal, Dr. N. R. Banerjea, Prof. A. M. Shastri and eminent Administrators like Shri Govind Narain, Shri T.N. Chaturvedi, Shri T. N. Dhar and Academicians like Prof. S. R. Maheshwari, Prof. K. S. Shukla, Prof. P. D. Sharma and so forth. The galaxy of these reputed scholars have dealt with various facets of Indian Art, Culture and Administration. In the beginning of the Felicita tion Volume some reminiscences have been included along with life profile of Shri Trivediji. The acade mic contribution is divided in two parts. The first part covers the entire gamut of Archaeology: Epigraphy, Art, Iconography, religi ous and cultural studies. The papers contributed by learned scholars shed new light on some pertinent points for the first time. The second part incorporates the papers on ancient Indian administra tion, ancient polity and various issues, problems and solutions of general administration. It also deals with burning topics of the present day administration. Shri Trivediji himself narrated some experiences of operational administration in his autobiographical article given at the end.
