The book recounts the glorious past of Mithila and empirically traces the withering of the Industry and Agriculture activities from the region and discusses about the scope of Industrial and Agricultural activity which can be carried out in the region. The sustained neglect by the political dispensation compels the author of the book to plead for a separate state of Mithila which could be carved out from the existing state of Bihar for the betterment of the region and which would also contribute in the development of the nation.
Narendra jha was born in 1934 at village Tarauni, District Darbhanga, Bihar, Taurani village has been an ancient centre for Sanskrit studies. His father was a Sanskrit scholar whose contribution to Sanskrit was recognized and was given "Rashtrapati Award" by the President of India. He started his studies from his village, came to Darbhanga for his higher studies and went on to become a Charted Accountant while working at Kolkata. Practised in Kolkata for 10 years as Charted Accountant and thereafter in 1975 shifted to Patna and is still in practice. He has also been Chairman of the Patna branch of Central India Regional Council of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has been very vocal for the demand for separate state of Mithila and its benefits which would lead to nation development. He is a vivid reader and has also written books on topics of his interest concerning economics and Mithila. His other books are "Mithalak Arthik Vikas", "Mithlak Janapadiya Vikas", "Mithala Mein Jal Sansadhan" "Vikas O Arthtantra" "Arthtantra O Bhrastachar", "Paribhraman" & "Smriti".
