The sixth revised edition of My Experiments with Homoeopathic Combinations covers the effective prescriptions based on personal experiences of Dr P. S. Khokhar. This book contains more than 600 homoeopathic combinations, covering the most common therapeutic condition. Few examples of therapeutic condition covered by the author are:
There is hardly any dearth of good and knowledgeable books and literature on homoeopathy and homoeopathic therapeutics in the profession. Therefore, I feel somewhat hesitant to put this very humble work of mine before my learned homoeopaths.
The effort is from my original notes, which I had put down in a notebook bit by bit over a period of my about forty years of practice in homoeopathy.
This is just to serve a limited objective, and my sincere thanks and obligations go to Dr. V.K. Gupta, G.H.M.S. (Hons.), Principal, Nehru Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, New Delhi; Deputy Director, Homoeopathy, 1.S.M. & H., Delhi Administration, Delhi; Member, Governing Body, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, Ministry of Health, Government of India, and Honorary Homoeopathic Physician to the President of India.
Dr. Gupta after seeing my personal notes, which I had jotted down after my repeated experience, getting encouraging and good results, and the success of the remedies prescribed for the diseases mentioned therein, during my day to day practice, had suggested to have them published. Therefore as encouraged by Dr. Gupta, I have compiled them into this small book.
I would like to mention here that although the Law of Similia Similibus Curantur calls for only one remedy at a time, keeping pace with the fast moving society, great distance between the doctor and the patient, and paucity of time with the patient, I am forced to use certain combinations, which have brought good results in my clinical practice. Dispensing of group remedies had also been the practice of the great teacher Dr. Eric F. Powell, saving the patients from getting worse and reaching a stage which was beyond re-medical aid and giving complete cure.
Only a few remedies, which I prescribed with success for the specific disease in my daily practice are given, and this does not in any way cover all the ailments of the human beings.
It is my strong and firm conviction, which I have had from my experience, that if a disease is curable, homoeopathy will not fail, provided of course every care is taken in selecting the simillimum, administering it in proper dosages and it's repetition.
I am indeed greatly indebted to Dr. V.K. Gupta, firstly to encourage me to get my work published, and secondly for his very kindly going through the manuscript, writing the foreword, and also suggesting the title of this work, "Homoeopathic Therapeutic Compendium."
I am also extremely grateful to Mrs. Kiran Bedi, I.P.S., the first most brave, honest and courageous lady police officer in the country for very kindly writing the introduction.
Also, in this new edition I have arranged the diseases alphabetically.
I have great pleasure in writing the foreword for the book entitled "Homoeopathic Therapeutic Compendium" by Dr. P.S. Khokhar.
Dr. Khokhar has vast experience in homoeopathic practice. From the notes of his day-to-day clinical practice, he has derived many useful therapeutic hints, which he wishes to share with his professional colleagues.
lam sure the busy professionals will find the ready reckoner of these therapeutic hints immensely helpful and valuable in treating the patients.
It is both a matter of pride and pleasure for me to write these few lines of introduction to this book of Dr. P.S. Khokhar. Dr. Khokhar is a professional of long standing with a thorough knowledge and experience of homoeopathic system of medicine.
I had an opportunity of meeting Dr. Khokhar, first time in the month of March, 1982, when my daughter Tara was suffering from parenchymatous nephritis, the disease which did not yield much to any system of medicine.
Dr. Khokhar was introduced to me by one of my lady assistants, all of whose family members were his patients and knew him well.
I was very much reluctant to see Dr. Khokhar, because prior to his treatment of my daughter, she already had homoeopathic treatment from a noted homoeopath of Delhi, when she became very serious and had to be hospitalised, and I had completely lost my faith in homoeopathy.
As I was very much worried about the sickness of my daughter, and also due to the persistent and repeated requests from my lady assistant, I changed my mind and agreed to consult Dr. Khokhar. After an appointment with Dr. Khokhar, my parents, my daughter, the lady doctor, who was treating her and myself came to him. The case of my daughter and the homoeopathic system of treatment were discussed in detail. The lady doctor and all of us were fully convinced with his frank and informative talk, and it was decided to hand over the case of my daughter to him for the homoeopathic treatment.
Dr. Khokhar, before starting the treatment had forewarned us about the approximate time that was required for the proper treatment of my daughter.
My daughter remained under Dr. Khokhar's care for about four years. She has been cured of all of her ailments, and now leading a normal and happy life. She takes good interest in her studies and games, especially tennis. She has great affection for him, and he is like a grandfather to her.
Because, now I have known Dr. Khokhar for some years, I have no hesitation in saying that he is totally devoted to homoeopathy, that too for not any pecuniary gain, but for the love and service of the medicine.
He is a highly devoted and religious person. He has been seen curing his patients not only by his treatment through medicine, but also by his prayers. In brief he takes upon himself the cure for his patients.
Before starting his practice, he had been under study of a renowned homoeopath of Calcutta, late Dr. Kanjilal, from where he acquired all the professional and human qualities.
He came from Assam to Delhi in October 1969 to settle permanently and started his practice. In Assam, I believe, he had an excellent reputation and was known for his accurate prescriptions. His book entitled "Homoeopathic Therapeutic Compendium" deals with the remedies in the treatment of diseases homoeopathically. The homoeopathic remedies, I am told, act by virtue of their activity, and not by their gross action. Therefore, only the well selected and correct homoeopathic remedies will feed the desired activity.
Dr. Khokhar has worked hard in compiling his original notes into the shape of this book. I am sure this book will prove handy and valuable to the students of homoeopathy, as well as the busy professionals.
I have profound regard for Dr. P.S. Khokhar, and wish him every success.
