Stories from the hinterlands of the country where each woman is fighting a battle. Fighting with raw courage and her conviction. Fighting a battle against all odds faced with negativity and criticism and yet has now managed to change the tide in her favour. She has forced the society to not just sit up and take cognizance, but also change age-old practices and ingrained habits. The issues they faced vary - from witchcraft in the remote areas of Assam to declining child sex ratio in the villages of Rajasthan, from her insistence on participating in weightlifting championships to joining the armed forces and serving in terrorist infested areas, and yet, each one of them emerging victorious.
Nitu is an experienced officer of the 1991 batch of CRPF. She has worked in tough areas and handled critical assignments. Recipient of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Antrik Suraksha Padak and Kathin Seva Padak, she has worked closely with women in the forces.
Active in community service, Nitu has been associated with NGOs particularly working with street children, people with disabilities and widows. She has been closely associated with women in conflict areas. She has authored an anthology of English poetry, Resurrection: A Woman Reborn, which deals with issues of women empowerment and self realisation.
