The Yoga Sutras stand alone and apart, majestic in their appeal, transcendent in approach and resplendent in the goal achieved at the pinnacle of its exalted practice.
In this book they appeal to the sincere seeker who yearns to learn something deeper, maintaining respect for traditional wisdom while living in the modern environment.
There is no mention of living away from society, donning white or orange garbs for success. This Yoga is, then, to be part of social life but the mind remains like a lotus, pure, exquisite, unfettered, unbound, untouched. From the contradictions of commonplace situations, of the pendulum of pain and suffering, joys and exhilaration, with myriad emotions interspersed, the sutras come alive. The teachings of the Yoga Sūtras stand sovereign, holding themselves as an independent philosophical system, untouched by any names or forms of deities and gods except practices and supreme aspirations for the individual and humanity.
Applicable to all humankind, irrespective of class, culture, religion and nation, this Yoga goes beyond all material and physical boundaries. It ushers peace amid strife and chaos. It is the neutral wisdom, without prejudices or isms of any kind. Going beyond boundaries, the sutras provide us with lasting optimism, solace, freedom and meaning.
They are the answer to our world of today or any era where wisdom and practicality go together for a richer, meaningful, peaceful and fulfilled life.
