Shri Sita Ram Singh obtained M.A, LL.B., Degree from Delhi University in1st Division. He retired as Assistant Director, I.B. (M.H.A) in 1996.
During Service he attended Astrology classes at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi and did research in the subject post-retirement, he dedicated himself fully to it by writing articles and book and counseling for ever two decades.
He has published nearly 90 articles in English and Hindi in leading astrological journals like, Astrological Magazine, Modern Astrology, Times of Astrology, Express Star Teller, Babaji, Future Samachar and Research Journal of Astrology. His twenty six articles in English and twenty two in Hindi are available on Internet.
He has written a book entitled ‘Predicting your Future through Astrology’ ‘Myth and Reality of Kalsarpa Dosa and Pitra Dosh’ is in your hand and another book in Hindi is being penned down.
Everything in this world, animate or inanimate, constantly changes over a period of time either for better or worse. This also holds true in the case of the Divine Science of Astrology. While some sincere and research oriented Acharyas through their positive and methodical approach attempt to sharpen the tools of prediction passed down to us by our visionary Rishis, some others with the ulterior motive to-make easy money only fabricate certain dreadful names for the existing planetary combinations to inculcate fear in the mind of suffering public through manipulated propaganda and suggest elaborate and expensive upaya (remedial measures) which make no change in the suffering because these were hardly called for by horoscopic analysis.
The last decade of 20th century and the first decade of 21st century was dominated by the distorted concept of 'Kalsarpa Dosh' as the main reason for each and every problem of human beings, without complete analysis of the horoscope. It is named after 12 ferocious mythological snakes according to the location of Rahu and Ketu in the 12 houses of the horoscope. It is also proclaimed that the Dosh will continue to exist in the horoscopes of future generations of the family and hamper their progress and happiness in life, if its Shanti Puja was not got done forthwith at Hardwar, Kalahasti or Triyambakeshwar, suppressing the truth that there is no mention about 'Kalsarpa Dosh' or 'Yoga' in the ancient Vedic Jyotish Granthas. The author has the details of a number of horoscopes of individuals known to him who got these costly Pujas done without any relief.
On their complaining about its failure, the clients are told that the Puja was not performed methodically by competent purohits and should be repeated to get relief. Dr. B.V. Raman, the doyen of modern Indian Astrology, in his famous compilation "300 Important Combinations" has appended an Annexure with the caption "A Note on Kalsarpa Yoga" highlighting: "Strictly speaking KSY does not find a place in classical astrological literature. How this Yoga gained currency and gathered a sinister meaning is not clear?" He concludes: "It occurs to me that undue importance need not be given to KSY. The view held by some astrologers that KSY affects longevity and adversely affects the operation of other yogas favouring rise in life, achievement and accomplishment is not tenable. The overall assessment of the horoscope is important. No single yoga, including KSY, is capable of marring or making a horoscope. In our view KSY plays an important role in mundane astrology (dealing with nations) and is not of much importance in individual charts."
A few years back a congregation of leading Indian astrologers who assembled in a Seminar at Delhi, unanimously confirmed the views of Dr. B.V. Raman. The so called Kalsarpa Dosh (KSD), which had no authentic basis is slowly fading out, but it has now been replaced by a new concept of 'Pitra Dosh'. Like KSD, Pitra Dosh is now said to be responsible for all the setbacks and sufferings faced by human beings, also lacks shastrik basis as will be discussed later in detail. In Pitra Dosh the affliction is alleged to be caused by Rahu and Saturn of the Sun, the Moon and Jupiter in particular. Elaborate Shanti Puja of 1¼ lakh Pitra Gayatri Jap, Dashansha Havan, followed by Bhoj (large feeding) and daan to participating Pandits with Dakshina is prescribed. This takes 6-7 days and expenditure of over Rs. 40,000. Some institutions are openly advertising for arranging this Puja through competent purohits at competitive and reasonable rate. On complaining of no relief in the suffering by the individuals, they are told by the astrologer that the Puja was not performed methodically by proficient purohits and will have to be performed again. In a large number of cases the individuals leave it at that due to heavy expenditure involved, and the start of favourable Dasa-Bhukti or completion of Saturn's Sadesati or malefic transit of Rahu, automatically brings relief. Now astrologers are arranging Vedic Jyotish Samagam with minimum registration fee of Rs. 1,100 upwards where more of bhajans and dance are presented before the public in the name of Jyotish and astrologers are eulogised and worshipped as Guruji.
This book is the result of constructive discussion the author had with Shri Amrit Lal Jain, CEO Alfa Publications, who himself has good astrological background, about the prevailing distortions of ancient astrological principles which is bringing bad name to the Vedic Science of Astrology. Shri Jain suggested that a book is the need of the hour to expose the fraud about these distortions, and remove the prevailing confusion in the mind of general public so as to protect them from the clutches of unscrupulous greedy astrologers. The book contains not only evaluation of the horoscopes given by their protogonists, but also 25 horoscopes of both Indian and foreign nationals containing 'Kalsarpa Dosh' and 'Pitra Dosh' despite which they became successful, prosperous and famous so as to dispel the confusion created by the concept of 'Kalsai-pa Dosh' and 'Pitra Dosh'. In all 31 horoscopes of famous people have been analysed in the book.
The author dedicates the book to his late parents Thakur Ram Kripal Singh and Smt. Gora Devi, whose care, love and affection he cherishes with reverence and gratitude, and remembers them on every family function and during 'Sraddha Paksha' and has performed their 'GAYA SHRADDHA'.
The author will feel amply rewarded if the book helps the readers in getting rid of the prevailing confusion. The advice of learned Acharyas, views of students of astrology, and opinion of general readers are welcome.
