Professor Lal Mani Joshi's sudden and untimely death deeply saddened all his friends and admirers and also all those interested in Buddhist scholarship. To commemorate the memory of the departed scholar, Principal Rinpoche instituted an annual lecture series at the Tibetan Institute, Sarnath, and Prof. K. S. Murty most graciously agreed to deliver the first lecture of the series. While grieving for Joshi I had the privilege to listen to Prof. Murty's meditations over the truth which lies beyond life and death (Sat and Asat).
