B.K.Chaturvedi born in a village, Holipura (Agra, U.P.) on 3rd. August 1945, in a reputed family. He had his education in Allahabad (M.Sc.) and Bangalore. Having served for a couple of years in HMT, he is now a free-lance author, journalist and poet based in New Delhi for about two decades.

He nas many articles/poems/books published in both Hindi and English to his credit. Prominent among them is a mattered verse-translation in English the famous epic of modern Hindi: KAMAYANI. He has also rendered "Srimadbhagawat Gita" and "Sriramcharitmanas' into English. A prolific writer, he often writes for TV and Radio.

The Navagrahas or the Nine Planets have remained sort of deities deserving separate worship from times immemorial. That they exert a definite influence upon human life has been the belief of every civilisation almost right from the dawn of human consciousness although there have been rationalists who deem these so far away inanimate bodies as mere objects incapable of exerting any influence. It is to cater to every taste with a pragmatic wisdom that this book has been divided into distincts parts dealing separately with their astrological connotation and the astronomical facts. The reader is free to judge as to what they actual are. However, since majority of them are supposed to be believers, the relevant orisons and prayers have also been included on the criterion of their popularity and authenticity. The attempt has been to present the nine planets in total perspective. Since the trans-saturnine planets like Uranus, Pluto, Neptune etc. donot form part of this august list they have not been dealt with. Also, since this book is not on astrology only that part of the astrological interpretations have been included which deal specifically with the nature of the planets. Som eastrological aphorisms are included because they reveal the inherent nature of the planets. Again, the basis of their inclusion is authenticity and popularity.
