On May 25, 1967, in Naxalbari village in Darjeeling district, northern West Bengal, raffians attacked a tribal who had been given land by the courts under the tenancy laws. In retaliation, the tribals attacked landlords and claimed the land. From this 'Naxalbari Uprising came the word Naxalite.

Now the Naxalites or Naxals in a simple term used to define well-organised groups waging a violent struggle on behalf of landless labourers and tribal people against atrocities of landlords and other exploiters. The Naxalites argue that they are fighting oppression and exploitation to create a classless society.

He was born on 10" September 1966 in Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh). He completed his graduation degree in First division from Kanpur University and post-graduation degree in Political Science from the same university. He did his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) from Lucknow University. Due to his amicable and philanthropic attitude he is appreciated by his colleagues and near and dear ones.

Naxalites have grown in quantity, and their economic condition has strengthened. They have accumulated high- tech arms and ammunitions and now they have become headache for state governments, kill CRPF and police personnel in large number, not to speak of thousands of innocents common men. When naxalites are not worried of well-equipped CRPF forces, how untrained and unequipped police personnel under the control of state government can control the naxalites movement.

The alarm bell is ringing, but no one is serious to hear it. This is the right time to arise, awake and suppress all these anti-national activies with all might and will. Not a day goes by when we don't hear and read of naxalites related stories in print and electronic media. But now, naxalites are also enhancing their activities in peaceful areas too. What to speak of common man, naxalites are killing security forces at their own will. Slowly but steadily, they are spreading their tentacles in peaceful areas too. They are active in seven states and more than fifty districts. The country is sitting at the volcano of naxalism which can erupt at any time and can endanger the peace and security of the country.

The greatest challenge for ruling government is to maintain peace and security of the country when insurgents playing havoc in every corner of the country.

The Naxalite movement became active after some members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) split to form the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), after the former agreed to participate in elections and form a coalition government in West Bengal. Charu Mazumdar, their supremo led the split.
