History is the study of the human past as it is described in the written documents left by human beings. It is a narration of events which have already happened. It is an account of rise and fall of nations, and other great changes which have affected the social and political conditions of human race. The main purpose of the study of history is to reconstruct a truthful account of the past. There is an imperative to study history as it would enable a person to cope with future challenges in life.
The term culture refers to the "sum total of integrated learned behavior patterns which are characteristics of the members of a society and which are, therefore, not the result of biological inheritance". It includes good taste, refinement, achievement in and appreciation of the fine arts, music and literature. Culture refers to the behavior traits that distinguish man from other species.
Culture consists of all the social organizations through which members of the society are grouped together into such entities as family, community and state. Culture is crucial to all human existence.
It consists of normative behavior patterns and showed ways or patterns of thinking and feeling as well as doing. Thus, a culture is a society's system of common heritage.
