There are numerous commentaries on the Srimad Bhagavad Gita. The book Nistraigunya Purusottama Yoga of Srimad Bhagavad Gita is unique in the sense that it gives a mystic interpretation of Srimad Bhagvad Gita in which all the world. religions are compared.

The main purpose of the Author in giving out this work to the readers is to offer them the greatest insight and experience to which man can be heir, namely, God is with us at all times and this consciousness of His ever fencing and watching us should make it impossible to sin and make us wish actively and naturally amenable to His (bhajan) worship and prayer, the highest Karma which in the result will get us the highest fruit of surrender to the lotus feet of Lord Krsna, the eternal co-partnership with Him in his Divine Abode.

Dr. Bankey Behari

was a scholar of Persian, Urdu and English. In addition to other scholarly books he translated many books on Sufism like Iran Ke Sufi Kavi in Hindi, Revival of Religious Sciences by Alghazali in English, Tadkaratula Aulia (ie., Memoirs of Saints) by Faridudin Attar in English, Fiha Ma Fiha (Table Talk of Maulana Rumi), The Immortal Sufi Triumvirate-Sanai, Attar and Rumi, Tuhfa-The Minstrel Divine, Sufis, Mystics and Yogis of India and The Rubaiyat of Sarmad, all in English.

He renounced his lucrative legal practice and having taken Sannyasa came to Vrindaban in 1940.

In 1956, he was awarded the Doctorate of Theology for this book. In 1972, he was also awarded the UNESCO Prize on his Paper "Way to Ecstasy" on Sufism and it was considered as the best Indian work for that year.

He adopted the intense spiritual practice and realised God and departed to Goloka Dhama, the Divine abode of the Lord on 7 February 1975 after living in Vrindaban for 35 years.

Dr. Chhaganlal Lala

was awarded the Ph.D. degree in 1972 and D. Litt. degree from the Agra University. He served as a Lecturer of English in Sri Nimbark Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Vrindaban. He was closely associated with Dr. Bankey Behari and has taken the noble work of editing all the unpublished works of Dr. Bankey Behari. Besides being involved in the study of Scriptures, he is a prolific writer and has published articles in several journals.

The Gospel of Surrender

To attain God in this life is the subject of our query. At the outset of our sojourn, we must be convinced that God is and He recompenses those who seek Him alone and nothing besides. This theistic attitude being inscribed deeply on the tablet of our heart, then the faith becomes our guide. It points to the Supreme Word-the Gita. The Gita says "Surrender is the secret and sole pathway that leads to the Supreme Lord. When we have reached Him, there is for ever an end of our greatest suffering, the cycle of rebirth and we are landed in the Abode of Eternal Blisses."

What is Surrender?

Surrender is the corner stone of the Gita. It is of the nature (Swabhava) and essence (Swarupa) of God. Surrender is a travel to and in God at the urge of the Godly spiritual element in us pining for the eternal Divine Source from which it has been separated for ages. But none can surrender unless he is called by God to do it. Look there on the yonder temple of love - Christ on cross-here is surrender portrayed. Just see the crucifixion of Mansur-al-Hallaj, how he defines the secret of surrender by rubbing the blood of his stunts on his face turned yellow after his hands and feet were cut off, lest the people should misconstrue the grace of the Lord and blame Him for being hard on His Lovers, saying, "I turned my face red so that all may know that I praise my Lord and cheerfully submit to the Divine Dispensation." See another lover's relic outside Delhi, the immortal tomb of the reputed naked Darvish Sarmad who surrendered himself to the Lord. As he proceeded to the scaffold, his hands were raised in prayer to the Lord saying, "O Beloved! Come and watch the pleasant sight how they convey Thy gay lover to the scaffold as he moves praising Thee amidst the hue and cry." As the axe fell, the immortal message of submission to the lotus feet of the Lord flowed from his lips, "The Beloved did well in severing off my head from the body because it was causing me great headache i.e., this body consciousness constituted a great blockade in the union with the Devine Beloved." Remember the valiant St. Elizabeth, a princess discarding the diamond-set crown saying it did not behove her to don it whilst her Lord Christ put on that of thorns. In India, behold St. Mira Bi, the queen of Chittore quaffing the cup of deadly poison coming to her in the name of Lord Giridhar. All these are mighty names telling the secret of surrender and teaching that steadfastness till end will be the true index of surrender. Every one is given a life to surrender and he who dedicates it solely to His service can explain the meaning of surrender in mute words yet in the expressive language of sighs and tears, spiritual fervour and zeal. Surrender constitutes in taking the single decisive step towards God. This step does not mean sliding into the path but a decisive break from the world and it is a necessary prelude to entry into the realm of God. Surrender means conversion to God. It is the harbinger of eternal happiness for all suffering is due to non-conversion to God.
