This book Nutritional status of Agricultural Workers in a research project conducted on agricultural workers (both male and female) of Hirakud Command Area of Sambalpur District, Odisha. This book deals with the socio-economic factors that affect the nutritional status of the agricultural workers, their nutritional knowledge, and prevalence of malnutrition and the causes responsible for such incidence. This book will help the scholars who are doing research on agricultural workers.

Dr. Monalisa Pradhan is an agricultural scientist in Krishi Vigyan Kendra since 2005. She received her M.D. degree with specialization food science and nutrition. As working on extension system she has contributed extensively to the world of farming community with publication of many booklets, leaflets, newsletters etc. Dr. Pradhan has been interviewed and delivered many talk on radios and television programme. She has published several articles in many national and international journals.

One of the famous quotes of Mahatma Gandhi was "Go to villages, there in lives the soul of India". Agriculture has been the main occupation in India. Two-third (70 per cent) of Indians dependent on agriculture directly or indirectly. It is their principal means of livelihood (Panda, 2016). It is also said to be providing employment (directly and indirectly) to about 64 per cent of the total workforce in India. This can be the largest private enterprise in the Country. Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the Late President of India in his book "Target 3 Billion" observed that while Agriculture sector is by far the largest employer of human resources worldwide, it has the smallest sectoral contributor to the GDP of the nation.

As regards the economic scenario of Odisha, as per the Odisha Economic Survey, 2015-16, the development of Agriculture is necessary for inclusive and sustainable growth of Odisha's economy. Though the state economy no more remains primarily agrarian, but the sector bears enormous implications in development strategy of the State in each plan period as its net area under cultivation still covers 35 per cent of geographical area of Odisha and more than 62 per cent of States total worker's population depend on agriculture (Tripathy, 2016). So, it can be said that the development of the State is mainly dependent upon the growth in agriculture Sector.
