Jinendrabuddhi declares at the beginning of Nyasa that he has written his commentary collecting information from various sources This author has received well-deserved respect from later scholars for the depth of his scholarship and clear understanding and exposition of the subject. The popularity of his work can be understood from the number of commentaries (including the one by Mallinatha) and sub-commentaries on it.
