Civil liberties are not sustained by chanting of mantras at seminars but are to be translated into living realities by the courage and dedication of persons like Inder Mohan. He fought for civil liberties during the colonial British rule at the cost of his personal liberty. After independence, he struggled for basic human rights during the dark days of June 1975 Emergency, which landed him in jail. The book vividly portrays Inder Mohan as an indomitable fighter for civil liberties, a humanist, and a man with a sensitive social conscience.
Meenakshi Mohan Banerjee is the only child of Inder Mohan. Married with two children, she lives in New Delhi. She was trained in Paris, France as a special educator for children with learning disabilities, and has worked within the social sector developing teaching methodologies for the underprivileged community.
