Even after more than 80 years since the outbreak of the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, the Residency of Lucknow was not forgotten, and flowers were still laid on the grave of Henry Lawrence who lost his life at the hands of the mutineers. This is the true story of the 3,000 men, women and children who withdrew to the Residency at the time of the siege. After two successive relief attempts had reached the city, the defenders and civilians were evacuated from the Residency, which was then abandoned.
