This book is the basic book intended as a course supplements to Students, Researchers, Medical officers, and Practitioners of Ayurveda. This text book describes all vital topics related to Rogavigyan paper I. Fundamental principles of diseases according to Ayurveda and Modern medicine described vividly. Diagnosis of diseases is completely relied on the history taking, clinical examination and ancillary investigations; all these aspect covered in this text. It is the classical book on Ayurvedic diagnostics. It covers the entire syllabus of Rogavigyan paper I as per CCIM. It covers the illustration of diseases, pictures, photographs wherever essential. Emphasis has been given to explain the concept in a unique way. It provides useful information about the basic concept of diseases as per Ayurveda and Modem Medicine for the diagnosis of diseases. Efforts has been made to deliver disease information for easy diagnosis of diseases. Some chapters were written by expert of modern medicine. Color headings provided to attract the readers as well as to have glimpse of important points.

Dr. P. S. Byadgi is working as a teacher in the area of RogaNidan (Ayurvedic diagnostics) since 17 years. Dr.Byadgi began his teaching since 2000 and has been writing books and publishing many articles. Dr. Byadgi earned BAMS degree in the year 1995 and completed internship in the year 1997, post graduate degree in the year 2000 and post doctor degree in the year 2003. Editor in Chief for Journal of Advanced Research in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. Reviewer for articles published in JAIM, AYU and other reputed journals. Dr. Byadgi published 112 papers and 27 full papers in seminar proceedings and serving as an editorial board member and Advisory board member of repute journals. He also published 11 books and wrote 17 chapters in a book and contributed significantly for MD and PhD scholars research work as a supervisor as well as co-supervisor and guided them to publish their work in reputed journals. Presently working as an Professor in the Department of VikritiVigyan, Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (U.P.).

I am delighted to know that Parameswarappa Shivappa Byadgi, Associate Professor, Department of Vikriti Vigyan, Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi - 221005, Uttar Pradesh, India has published the comprehensive text book entitled "Parameswarappa's Text Book of Vikiriti Vigyan & Roga Vigyan" in two volumes through Chaukhamba Sanskrit Sansthan, Varanasi, one of the reputed publishers of Ayurveda. These books provide information related to clinical knowledge on Ayurveda as well as modern medicine, which is essential for the understanding and diagnosis of the diseases. It is always helpful for UG and PG students of Ayurveda in various colleges, physicians and researchers working in this field to gain the clinical knowledge. These books are specially designed as per CCIM norms covering the entire syllabi of Vikriti Vigyan & Roga Vigyan and is based on contemporary and conventional views. Moreover, it seems that the author of the books have been able to satisfy his desire of knowledge. These books are written in such a way that it helps to acquire the complete knowledge of both Ayurveda as well as modern medicine pertaining to fundamental principles of diseases.

These books have also included current updates in the field in addition to traditional knowledge, which is one of the unique features of these volumes along with the contributions of teachers from modern medicine. Author has provided the inputs and other relevant references to the contents.
