Born on 2 Dec. 1942 in Mirpur (now in POK) his family migrated and settled down in Jammu after 1947. After passing B.Sc. from GGM Science College, Jammu and undergoing specialization in textiles from PSG College of Techno logy, Coimbatore, his inborn qualities of leadership, patriotic spirit, fascination and charm of uniform, impressions and impact created by brave and gallant Indian soldiers and call of the Nation made him join Indian Army in Feb. 1964 as an Officer in Bombay Sappers where he served in 411 (Indep) Para Fd Coya most elite and prestigious unit of Indian Army. He fought in the forefront during 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak Wars, breached several mine fields inside enemy territory and sustained mine blast injuries. He subsequently joined the elite and versatile organization of Border Security Force (BSF) and served on the Western, Eastern, North Eastern borders and on internal security and anti-militancy duties. His daring and dashing stint in anti-militancy operations in Kashmir Valley during 1991-94 won him acclaim, honour and appreciation of the Centre/State Governments and senior Army/BSF officials. The author is presently serving as Deputy Inspector General in BSF.
