The lines we see on our palms carry a wealth of information about our relationship to the world. These lines are the very driving forces of our lives. Their position, origin, growth and development; their colour and tone; their form, shape and structure—all provide clues about our lives. We can learn a great deal about our psychological disposition, health and vocational aptitudes through palmistry.

In this well organized and scientific presentation, the author proves that palmistry can be of immense value to counselors, teachers, parents, professional palmists and all others who are keenly interested in the development of human personality. The book has been written and organized in a style that is accessible to beginners as well as advanced students of Palmistry.

Dr. G. Francis Xavier began to read palms as a hobby, and now is a renowned researcher in Palmistry. He had launched a major project to study the palms of both reputed and less known personalities in various countries of the worlds.

It was about two and a half decades ago, an elderly man casually looked at my palms and commented, “I see Macha Rekha on your right palm and on the left too, on the Mount of Jupiter.” I brought my palms close to my eyes. There it was—the Line of Fish imprinted in my palms as if drawn by an expert artist.

The man was Dr. Muthusami Bharathi, a well known Siddha Medical Practitioner and not a palmist by profession. He could not explain the significance of Macha Rekha. However, he asserted that it was an excellent indication to have Macha Rekha, and that too on the Mount of Jupiter.

Thus, he kindled my inquisitiveness and there began my search after ‘Macha Rekha’. I started with Cheiro’s book on “The Language of the Hand”. Book after book, I read to find reference to the Line of Fish, all in vain. In the fourteenth book, written by an Indian, I found a mention of Macha Rekha. The hunt continued and I read every book that came to me. And there came many in that direction.

I moved from precept to practice. I started reading the palms of thousands of people from all walks of life, not only in India but abroad as well.

I am a humble seeker of truth and from the very beginning my approach to this subject has been purely research-oriented. It is my firm conviction that only sporadic attempts have so far been made on this subject with scientific insight. This branch of knowledge has immense scope and potentiality of development in this era of fact-finding research. This will open new vistas to man’s understanding of one another by reading the Lines and Mounts of palms which apparently provide information relating to psychological dispositions, health indications and vocational aptitudes of human beings.

The book is a product of twenty-five years of my intense thinking and extensive research on this subject. However, I dare not claim that it is the last word in Palmistry. lam still in the process of fact-finding and I have yet to go a long way.

I firmly believe that the knowledge in Palmistry would contribute substantially to the field of Guidance and Counseling. I would strongly suggest that the study of Palmistry should be introduced in the curriculum of the subject—Guidance and Counseling—so that the counselors, in their profession, would be more effective and successful. As Providence would have it, the date of my birth and that of Cheiro of international repute coincide, 1st November.

This book will be of immense value to counselors, teachers, parents, professional palmists and all others who are deeply involved and interested in the development of human personality. The treatment of the book has been designed in such a way that the beginners too can understand the subject quite clearly.

I fondly hope that the readers will find in this book a modern, scientific and rational approach to the subject of Palmistry, with a special flavour of originality.
