The heritage of Prakrit is an invaluable treasure of India. Innumerable kinds of works have been written in Prakrit for over 2500 years. These works in various fields of learning have greatly contributed to this treasure. In this booklet Prakrit Primer at renowned Scholar of Prakrit literature Dr. Prem Suman Jain, has presented in a nutshell the Prakrit language, its literature, cultural significance and an account of its foremost representative authors. The Bahubali Prakrit Vidyapeeth Trust, Shravanabelagola, has been established by His Holiness Jagadguru Karmayogi Swasthishri Charukeerthy Bhattaraka Mahaswamiji of Shravanabelagola. The aim of the Trust is to establish the significance of Prakrit and to make its literature available to the general public. The publication of Dr. P.S. Jain's booklet 'Prakrit Sahitya ki Boomika has been published in two languages (Hindi and Kannada) as the third monograph of its series. It is also a matter of great pleasure that the enlarged and revised English edition of the monograph Introduction to Prakrit Literature' of Dr. Jain was published from this Institution (NIPSAR) as its first publication for the benefit of English readers. edited by Dr. Jayendra Soni (Germany) in 1993. I express my grateful thanks to both the scholars. Now the revised edition of this book is being published as 'Prakrit Primer".
