While presenting spiritual-philosophical and scientific evidences in this book, the author has advocated that steady practice of Yoga and Meditation has 'power to change within the individual' that enable it's practitioner to experience deeper silence, stability and bliss which leads to adopt a sound strategy and practice of `flow' (or 'stay and play' or 'adjust or adapt or accommodate' or `win-win') over `fight (attack) and flight (run away or escape).' Otherwise, animals do react by ' fight or flight' under threat. According to him, it is only us humans who got 'choice of actions' (`flow' or .... `win-win') and Yoga and Meditation is a mean to become the choice maker of own actions. The book comprises physical and mental problems faced by the management personnel due to stress and poor mental health, why meditation only a choice, what meditation is not? facts about meditation, various aspects as well as philosophical and scientific bases of Preksha Meditation. The second chapter presents various aspects and dynamics of stress and mental health; the third chapter presents review of literature showing effectiveness of popular meditation techniques on various aspects of human beings observed during past five decades; the fourth chapter presents scientific research methodology adopted by the author to show 'Impact of Preksha Meditation on occupational stress and mental health of management personnel'. Changing means of communication and technology and easy to access ways of information and data have tremendously popularized Yoga and Meditation in the past three decades. Now days, benefits of Yoga and Meditations have not only been known by the Comman man worldwide but also its benefits have been reaped by increased numbers of populace. The subject matter of Yoga and Meditation has ever attracted attention of the common man (realizing their inadequacies), intellectuals. scholars, and scientists. It seems to be so because Yoga and Meditation have been interpreted as mean of changes 'within the individual' that enable its practitioner to experience deeper silence, stability and to modify his/her thinking, attitudes, behaviors, beliefs, etc. and hence results into a 'better human beings... The results of scientific studies on Yoga and Meditation i.e. changing 'within the practitioners', have also attracted attention of industries and organization in India as well as abroad. At such a time when industries and organizations have progressively been shifting their perspective towards working personnel from treating them as 'machines' to treating them as 'golden egg producing goose'. Hence there was a need to conduct scientific research on benefits of Yoga and Meditation on stress and mental health of management personnel. I have been teaching Yoga and Meditation methods for last 23 years to common man; and conducting Yoga and Meditation based wellness programs for 18 years for the management personnel of industries and organizations. I have ever been interested in applying Yoga and Meditation methods in two areas taken for the research study, and operational definitions as well as potentiality and scope of Yoga and Meditation in management of stress and mental health. The third chapter is related to review of relevant literature, selection of problem, conceptual clarification of problem and objectives of the study. It ends with hypothesis for six variables of occupational stress as well as six areas of mental health. The fourth chapter is related to the research design, methodology, procedure, tests and tools, samples and statistical design adopted for the present study. The fifth and sixth chapters subsequently deal with results and discussion to explain the impact of Preksha Meditation on six variables of occupational stress as well as six variables of mental health of management personnel. The chapters highlight inter-group and intro-group comparisons at three levels of experimentations and lead to conclusions. The chapter seven presents summary of the whole research work and limitations of this research study. The chapter also suggests the possible areas of further investigations.
