The author had penned down these brief impressions of the Indian States as the guest of Indian or British friends, sometimes at the invitation of the Ruler or his Prime Minister. He has been greatly helped. by the libraries of the Royal Geographical Society and of Indian House.
In understanding the Indian Princely States he had been deeply influenced by various other books as Annals & Antiquities of Rajasthan by Colonel James Tod as well as many others on the same subject. He was fascinated by the Royalty of Rajasthan which could make him understand the colourful traditions of the States.
