Book Description
Foreword
In the continued efforts of highlighting the therapeutic virtues of indigenous drugs, proving of Atista indica has been quite interesting. Fragmentary proving of this drug carried out by Dr. Mahindra Lal Sir car and Dr. Kali Kumar Bhattacharjee and its subsequent success in clinical use gave us the idea of conducting its thorough proving.

This drug has been found clinically useful in Amoebiasis, Dyspepsia, Migraine and Irritable bowel syndrome. This monograph includes the verified symptoms along with the proving symptoms. It is hoped that the profession will make use of it and rate it as a polychrest drug.

Introduction
Glycosmis pentaphylla (Atista indica) is an indigenous drug and belongs to the family Rutaceae. In homoeopathy Glycosmis pentaphylla is used under the name of Atista indica and therefore it is known more by that name than its generic name. It is reported that this drug is used by Ayurvedic physicians in the conditions like amoebic dysentery, fevers, and hepatic disorders and as germicidal. Fragmentary proving of this drug conducted earlier, have demonstrated their action in amoebiasis (Mahindra Lal Sarkar - 1973, Kali Kumar Bhattacharjee - 1917). But inspite of its reported therapeutic efficacy against a number of diseases, it is not frequently used in homoeopathy, may be because data about authentic clinical verification of these drugs are not available.

It is because of the above fact that Council proved this drug on double blind technique and also verified under clinical verification programme.

Proving under CCRH is performed under Dysdale's double blind technique which is accepted internationally.

This drug was proved at three places i.e. Bhagalpur, Luck now and Ghaziabad between 1980-81. Detailed pathogenesis evolved during the proving was subjected to clinical verification. This monograph therefore includes all the aspects of Atista indica i.e. pharmacognosy, pharmacology, proving pathogenesis as well as clinically verified symptoms.
