Puran Singh (1881 - 1931) was the first Punjabi poet, who freely used free verse for his poetic writings. He had the capability of widening his mental horizon to enable his readers to visualise the pleasures and pains of humanity through particular human situations. An ordent diciple of Guru Nanak Dev, he loved and respected the lowest of the low. The spirit of nationalism pervades in all his writings. The fresh fragrance of his genuine optimism can be enjoyed from his writings. His writings have deep mystic and spiritual meanings.
In this slender volume an attempt has been made to give a glimpse of Puran Singh's works to the benefit of the Non-Punjabi readers to acquaint themselves, to a certain extent on the life and works of Puran Singh.
