Bhagavedgita does not require any introduction from anybody. Thousands of authors have tried to explain the text, but more ideas come everyday.
When we published Quest for Knowledge (Gita for Beginners), it was warmly received by readers. There were suggestions that more details are to be given. We all know that there are seven hundred verses in that text. But Gita literature is so vast that thousands of books are already written on those seven hundred verses. Also, authors are continuously writing on that subject. Hence, it is not possible to explain the whole of Gita literature. Here is an attempt to bring out one booklet on each chapter giving the views of some important commentators. Readers are requested to note that these commentators sometimes express contradictory opinions. We are not responsible for that. The reader can acceptor reject those views. This booklet is on the first Chapter.
Swami Swahanandaji, Swami Dayatmanandaji and Swami Shivamayanandaji have given encouragement and help to this author. Mr. P. R. Parameswara Kurup is a great help. Dr. M. C. Ramanarayanan has gone through the manuscript. Mr. Praveen Panicker is helpful. We are grateful to all those who have helped us directly or indirectly in bringing out this work.
