Sri N. V. Raghava Chary was born in 1913 in a village near Madras. He practiced as an Advocate for 50 years and was honoured posthumuosly by the Hon'ble justice, Madras High Court, on 15th December 1994. He had spent more than two-thirds of his life on Astrological research. From his younger days, it was his endeavour to learn astrology and perfect it to the extent possible He was working on the importance of the constellations and some basic concepts of the Stellar Astrology. It is a known fact that the Book on Nadi Jyothisha, published in early forties with the pen name MEENA was a joint work of Sri R. Gopala Krishna Row and Sri N.V. Raghava Chary.
In this book, Sri N.V.R. (MEENA - 2) illustrated Gunas in depth by segregating the Planets' Gunas into three different phases. The illustrations are so lucid that even the beginners can imbibe and comprehend their relevance and essence. Practical charts, worked out by the author, based on Nadi Principles are furnished the last pages so as to enable the readers to understand the principles with ease.
This book is a boon to the students and practicing astrologers.
At the outset I wish to state that I am not an Astrologer by profession. I had a keen interest in the subject from my early years and there was an inner urge in me that I should learn Astrology to an extent of perfection. I was born in 1913 in a village near by Madras. During the years 1933 to 1935. when I was a college student, studying in B.A., I used visit Tumkur (in Mysore State then) where my father was working in the Railways, I had a good fortune to come in close contact with an elderly gentleman, Sri Bhaskara Sastriar (a pious, retired school teacher). He gave me a glimpse of Satya Chariam. He also stressed the importance of the constellations on predictions and some basic concepts of Stellar Astrology.
As my father was in Railway service, I was forced to enter into the same service in 1936 at Bangalore (M.S.M. Rlys.). Late Sri R.Gopalakrishna Row was employed as a Signaller at Bangalore, adjacent to my office. Due to our common interest in the subject of Astrology we frequently met and the series of discussions we had ensued on various systems of Astrology.
I am very happy to write a few words on this book, a posthumus publication of Sri N.V. Raghava Chary's "Practical Stellar Astrology". About the author Sri N.V. Raghava Chary, "Meena 2", he had come to Hyderabad last year and visited our Universal College of Astrology and delivered a talk on the principles of Stellar Astrology. He explained how he worked with Sri R. Gopala Krishna Row and his experiences with him in the field of Astrology and the outcome of his work Stellar Astrology under the pen name "MEENA". Recently 5 months back I had discussions with Sri N.V.Raghava Chary in connection with his proposal for publishing a book on "Practical Stellar Astrology" with the help of his 5th son. Sri NVRARaja, a devoted student of mine. While in the process of publication of this book, he suddenly left for his Heavenly abode. To keep his memory green, this book is posthumously published by his son Sri NVRA Raja.
Sri N.V.Raghava Chary was a great savant in Astrology. He was an erudite scholar with more than fifty years experience.
He was a contemporary of Sri R. Gopala Krishna Row, MEENA 1 and a research scholar and brought forth this master piece in Stellar Astrology.
