Swami Gabhirananda, joined the Ramakrishna order, India in 1951. He served the organization in various capacities through some of its major centres such as the Advaita Ashrama both at Mayavati and Calcutta, the Ramakrishna Math at Trissur, the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama at Kankhal and the Ramakrishna Math in Madras. Since 1982 he is at Trissur.
He has interpreted many Sanskrit scriptures. In these, he scrupulously avoids rhetorical flourishes and repetitions which tend to mar the effectiveness of the original and invariably baffle the common reader. His contributions in this special field have won whole hearted appreciation from eminent savants and scholars.
Besides Rasapanchadhyayi, Swamiji's published works include Srutigita, Gospel of Sri Krishna, Mandukya-Karika, Major poetical Upanishads, Wisdom of Vedanta, Song of the Soul, Saundaryalahari and Lalithasahasranama.
