Dravidian University was established in 1997 to mirror the real and rich picture of Dravidian culture not only in its linguistic, literary, Cultural philosophical facets but in science and technological angels also.
The spirit of-integration is the guiding forced and the creation The linguistic and cultural -integration,not only at the regional but also at the national level is the cherished Objective of the University.
The Government of Andhra Prades started Dravidian University, with the co-operation of the sister states, to research and reflect on the in her room oneness of the cultures of Dravidian family of the four sates Whose languages number up to 27: Its endeavarous to promote unity and amity in the family of several languages. The main objectives of Dravidian university are to augment the common weal and social well Being of the communities of marginal languages and to build bridges Among the southern states. While working on each language separately in Varied areas, it aims at a synthesis and a discovery of the common heritage through Comparative Studies.
This work presents well researched papers, though small in number, Written by senior professors in South India, which for historical reasons is Called Dravidian India, with a canny care for a thorough discussion at A Seminar organized on 30 October 2007 as one of the decennial events Dravidian University. The subject was chosen for the seminar since The Writings on Indian History show a deplorable lack of coverage of the Historical events in Dravidian India.
The aim is to present to the readers a glimpse into the trends that have been emerging in the Dravidian historiography in recent times. In this effort, we have bought senior professors on to one platform to present their findings on such trends as of interest to scholars in this field as well as to general readers.
The Lumurian theory related to Kumarikkantam, which is considered as the hub of the Dravidian life and culture, the linguistic connections of Dravidians spread as far as Baluchistan in Central Asia, the beginning of historical writing in Kerala well before that of Kalhana on Kashmir, the scintillating analyses of the recent works on Dravidian India and the review of Periyar’s works for social upheaval are a welcome treat. I have a fond hope that this will serve as a source for future researcher on Dravidian History and Culture.
