Reflections Contemporary Challenges, Personalities, and Conundrums contains discussions on urgent contemporary issues such as elections, jobless growth, pollution and censorship. It then provides short biographies of remarkable people. Finally we have treatments of topics arising from the author's wide interests in literature, music and education. The reader will find much to ponder over.
As a student Margaret Chatterjee read Modern Greats (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) at Oxford where she was awarded an Exhibition at Somerville College. Subsequently she did intensive research on Gandhi's life and thought on which she has written eight books. She had opportunities for teaching at university level in several countries and this made her familiar with many cultures and this continues to be reflected in her current work.
My book Modalities of Otherness focussed on a single theme, whereas now my thinking travels from theme to theme. In the first section matters of contemporary urgency such as elections, jobless growth, pollution, and censorship are literally reflected. In the second section there are many mini biographies of people whose lives have compelled my attention. In the final section there are a host of topics which have set off trains of thought. Hopefully the reader will find many things which intrigue and are worth pondering over.
